“We had a busy weekend with four races in four days. We made the Outlaws show on Thursday night at Cherokee but didn’t get the finish we wanted. Lavonia with the Outlaws on Friday, the night started strong with us making it to the redraw, but we were a little off for the feature and slid back to an 11th-place finish. Our biggest focus this year is getting the ULTIMATE championship and we were able to add to our points lead with a third-place finish on Saturday night at Lavonia. We rounded out the weekend with a 10th-place finish on Sunday night with the Carolina Clash Series at Cherokee,” Knight shared. “All-in-all it was a pretty good weekend for our team, and we’ll keep digging as we enter the final few months of the season.”

Lifting the lid on his Labor Day weekend, Cla Knight traveled to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Thursday afternoon for the Rock Gault Memorial. With 33 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries on hand, Knight secured his spot into the $40,000-to-win A-Main with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting in 14th, Cla was an early retiree from the 60-lapper with 10 circuits remaining. He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

The following night at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for Charlie Mize Memorial, Cla’s second-place finish in his heat race promoted him into the World of Outlaws redraw. Starting the feature in third, Knight slipped eight spots in the 40-lap affair to place 11th.

On Saturday afternoon at Lancaster Speedway (Lancaster, S.C.) for the ULTIMATE Southeast Series-sanctioned Working Man 50, Knight earned the third-starting position for the main event via his time trial effort. With $5,000 on the line, Cla raced in a podium position throughout the feature to register a third-place finish. He followed Dennis Franklin and Ben Watkins across the line with Michael Brown and Dean Bowen rounding out the Top-5.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday night with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series Hall of Fame 50. Cla earned the 12th-starting spot for the feature and advanced a pair of positions to finish 10th in the $7,500-to-win affair.

With his performance on Saturday night, Cla now holds a 21-point advantage atop the latest ULTIMATE standings and also has clinched the Rookie of the Year title.
