Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Cla Knight commits to Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series tour in 2024

Cla Knight, a third-generation racer from North Augusta, S.C., will challenge for the 2024 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series championship. Knight will be chasing his second career Super Late Model regional championship.

A title with the second-year Hunt the Front series would give Knight his second regional crown in four years. He won the 2021 Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model championship, winning one race on the series at Lancaster (S.C.) Speedway. Knight also has Crate Late Model titles with the Fastrak organization. In 2016 he won Fastrak’s Southeast points championship and Mid-Ohio Valley points championship, while also winning Fastrak’s East Coast Rumble.

Knight is coming off a limited racing slate. His 2023 season produced a pair of runner-up finishes and seven top-10 finishes in just 23 starts. He ran second to Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., in an Ultimate Southeast Series main event at South Carolina’s Lake View Motor Speedway and finished runner-up to Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., in Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway’s September Hunt the Front Series event after leading the 21 laps of the 50-lap feature. Knight entered eight Hunt the Front events last season, registering four top-10 finishes.

Knight, who started racing karts when he was 12-years-old, follows his grandfather Jimmy Deason; his dad, Ken Knight; and his mom, Deanne Knight, as a race car driver. While entering more than 500 events across a myriad of divisions, Knight has collected 92 career victories and an impressive 220 top-five finishes.

This season Knight will again campaign a Longhorn Chassis backed by his family-owned Augusta Aquatics, a commercial swimming pool and aquatics contractor with licenses in five states. While the business keeps Knight busy, it also helps him compete throughout the Southeast. Knight’s effort on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series begins March 15 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., a track he last visited in October 2022.
